Adults with learning and/or physical disabilities and people recovering from mental illness can access day care opportunities for the purpose of rehabilitation, support and/or respite. Day care is structured to enable people to access a wide range of opportunities, geared towards maximising personal development and improving their quality of life.
Day care and resource centres for older people offer a range of activities, including help with personal care and daily living. Some day care centres offer a specialist service for people with memory impairment in a safe and friendly environment. Day care is a place to meet and make friends in a warm, friendly atmosphere, where support can be given.
There are a number of community services that help and encourage people to live safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible. The range of services can include personal care, a shopping service or food delivery.
